Siskins recorded and on the same date there was a report of a 40 Linnets
Drakelow Nature Reserve Saturday 26th May 2018 0815-1630.
The Hooded Merganser is being reported intermittently
Recent reports are of badger (twice in broad daylight), field mouse and several rabbit kits are now above ground.
The National Wildfowl Count, carried out on the 17th, produced an excellent count of 95 Shovelers and 52 Tufted Ducks

The morning period was given over to coverage of the SK21 transect for butterfly recording.
It’s amazing the difference a few days can make when looking for plants.
The last roost count was down to 12 birds.
South Derbyshire Badger Group has identified several active setts on the reserve.
The great crested grebes still had their two young but the oystercatchers seemed to have moved elsewhere
