Gang Mine Nature Reserve at Middleton by Wirksworth is internationally protected for the diversity and rarity of its plants. Learn with Julia Gow how these little gems survive on thin, metal rich soils and why they are so special.

We want everyone to love looking at, identifying, reporting and recording the wonderful wildlife in Derbyshire, so we’ve put together a training programme to take you from beginner to quietly confident.

The training is at beginner’s level and given by enthusiastic experts. Each day-long workshop is a mixture of indoor and outdoor activity held at the Trust’s Middleton HQ in a friendly relaxed atmosphere, with fieldwork taking place nearby.

You don’t need any previous experience or expensive kit – you just need to have an interest in wildlife and a zest for knowledge! All training is £35 per person per day. Places are strictly limited to maximise the learning experience. If you would like to take part, please book on to the course by calling us on 01773 881188.
