About the event

Come down to Aqueduct Cottage, to see the work of two brilliant local artists.

Artist Bios / Introduction:

Derbyshire Artist Irene Brierton lives in Crich and has been producing her watercolours of British Wildlife over many years, exhibiting around the country, a member of the Royal Miniature Society. Several of her works have been inspired by individual wildlife subjects experienced in and around the local countryside, the woodland fringing Aqueduct Cottage and the Cromford Canal.

“I’ve been passionate about wild flora and fauna forever it seems and like Lynn have been ‘hands on’ dealing directly with many of the birds and animals that have found their way into my paintings. Badgers especially have captured my attention down the years, initially filming for BBC 2 with Simon King.

Lynn’s beautiful ceramics and my watercolours sit well together, we feel one enhances the other, a harmonious assembly of the wonderful wildlife to be seen around us, hopefully you will agree. I love to portray this country’s wildlife and by doing so to encourage others to look more closely, engage and value what is around us throughout the year, it is life enhancing in every way.

Hello, I'm Lynn Hazel ~ I'm a British Wildlife Sculptor working in stoneware clay.

I've had a deep fascination and love of the natural world since I was knee-high to a grasshopper.

I consider myself fortunate to be in a position where I can study and Sculpt the animals I absolutely love. I have hands-on experience working with wildlife too, from overwintering Hedgehogs, saving Toads from roads during migration, to trapping and vaccinating Badgers for Derbyshire BEVs/Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.

As well as exhibiting my sculptures at shows, I've also worked on countless commissions, the most memorable one was a Lapwing, presented to Dr Arthur Edward Smith CBE MA by his lifelong friend Sir David Attenborough.  Other past clients have been TV presenter, writer and naturalist Bill Oddie OBE and Artist Pollyanna Pickering.
