My Working for Nature Story: Sam

My Working for Nature Story: Sam

The Working for Nature Traineeship is a partnership between Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. It enables those with no previous experience or qualifications to gain practical conservation experience and achieve a Diploma in Work-Based Environmental Conservation.

Thank you to our 2022 trainees who have shared their personal journey throughout the traineeship last year. Our next post in the series, telling his Working for Nature story, is Sam.

Sam joined the Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust trainees alongside Rowan and Joe. His teamwork, interpersonal skills and problem solving impressed us from the start. His supervisors said:

“When Sam is on site, he works brilliantly in a team, and grafts. He is always a positive influence on the volunteers which is a great characteristic for keeping high energy work throughout the day.”

Before joining the Working for Nature traineeship, Sam had worked in engineering, labouring and hospitality  Sam has now successfully acquired a job at English Heritage working as an Apprentice Gardener, using the skills and knowledge gained from the traineeship.  We wish him all the very best for his career in the environmental sector!

We want to say a big thank you to the Heritage Fund, for providing funding for six trainees to take on the fantastic Working for Nature traineeship!
