About the event
Welcome to Whittle and Weave.
I'm Karina and I quite like bending sticks. I love the slow pace and methodical processes involved in basket making and I really enjoy sharing this skill with others.
I have always worked in the outdoors. After studying environmental science and working in conservation for a while I moved into environmental education. For the last 15 years I have been running bushcraft courses - mainly playing in the woods, making fires, using sharp tools and creating things out of natural materials. I have been weaving baskets for around 10 years and set up this little business because weaving makes me happy.
I have worked with all sorts of groups over the years and have seen how beneficial connecting with nature can be. Immersing yourself in a mindful craft like basketry, working with your hands to physically shape a natural material, is a great way to connect. and so rewarding - plus you can do it indoors with a nice cup of tea when the weather's rubbish.
To park for Aqueduct Cottage, you can use the High Peak Junction Car Park, located at Lea Rd, Matlock, DE4 5AE. This car park is the nearest option for visitors to the cottage. It is a small, coin-operated car park, and there is also free on-street parkin
