Witches Oak Water sighting reported by Colin Baxter

Bird activity was fairly quiet.

Dull & overcast this morning but mild - 9C at 10am, with a light westerly wind. The last couple of weeks of dry weather made for easy walking round the reserve, with water levels generally much lower than this time last year.

Bird activity was fairly quiet. Notables were the many Goldeneye present (24 in total), with many of the males displaying strongly, and Goosander, both on the reserve & in the river.

Counts were: Tufted Duck 95, Mallard 42, Gadwall 9, Teal 24, Wigeon 9, Goldeneye 24, Pochard 17, Shoveller 2, Coot 18, Moorhen 1, GC Grebe 6, Canada Goose 4, Mute Swan 6, Cormorant 16, BH Gull 110, Herring Gull 2, Common Gull 2, Blackbird 5, Bullfinch 4, LT Tit 7, Goosander M+F on reserve and further M+F on the river.
