Hollinhill and Markland Grips sighting reported by Eleanor Wilkins

We heard a Tawny Owl at first light and a Great-spotted Woodpecker during the morning

At a Bird Ringing session we had 58 birds including 8 Blackbirds, 6 Goldcrests, 14 Great Tits, 15 Blue Tits, 3 Coal Tits, 2 Wrens, 2 Dunnocks, 4 Long-tailed Tits, a Robin, Chaffinch and a Marsh Tit. The oldest known bird was a Long-Tailed Tit which was originally ringed in March 2016 at Clowne sewage works. The best travelled bird was a Blue Tit which was ringed in Aug 2017 on Hickingwood Lane in Clowne, recaptured at Clowne sewage works in Nov 2017 and was at Hollinhill Grips this morning! We also heard a Tawny Owl at first light and a Great-spotted Woodpecker during the morning, in addition to 10 Redwings over and 3 Mistle Thrushes.
