Wild Garden Weekends

Posted: Wednesday 15th July 2015 by Book-Reviews

Review of Wild Garden Weekends by Tania Pascoe, published by Wild Things Publishing, 2015 at £16.99.

If you like visiting beautiful gardens and eating lovely food, then this book could be for you. The author has travelled the length and breadth of the country finding a wide variety of interesting and sometimes quirky gardens, many planted with a naturalistic flavour.

In addition, she has picked out a few nature reserves which have flowers as the star species. Fritillary meadows and downland with orchids for example.

Derbyshire is represented by Calke Abbey, Lathkill Dale, Priestcliffe Lees and Rose End Meadows.

So, if the book introduces a few ‘open garden’ types to the delights of wild meadows and open landscapes it will have done something useful.

For the naturalist, the book certainly includes lots of lovely-sounding gardens and eateries, many hidden deep in every part of the country.
