International Vulture Awareness Day 2020

Bearded Vulture

International Vulture Awareness Day 2020

There are 23 species of vultures and many are classified as endangered due to threats from illegal poisoning, hunting, habitat loss and colliding with power lines. International Vulture Awareness Day is set up by the Vulture Conservation Foundation, you can read more about their work here.

For International Vulture Awareness Day 2020 we are lucky enough to have our own bearded vulture in Derbyshire, Vigo.  Together with our friends at RSPB and with Louis Phipps from the Vulture Conservation Foundation we visited Crowden with a group of children who learnt more about vultures, drew pictures and wrote poems.

Here is a collection of images and footage from the special day 🦅
