About the event

We’re launching a brand new youth-led conservation group at locations in Derbyshire, and we’re looking for young people to run them.

Whether you are looking for a career in conservation, want to support wildlife in your local area or simply meet like-minded people, join us on an afternoon taster session at our Derwent Meadows nature reserve to learn more about the project and how you could get involved. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in some practical conservation activities on site to help support

Keeping it Wild

At Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, we want to empower young people to support nature's recovery. What better way to do this than take ownership of your very own space for nature and help manage it with the support of one of the UK's most prominent conservation charities?

You’ll take the lead—planning projects, organising events, and managing a site—with expert support from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, who will work alongside you to help create a land management plan and build your conservation skills.

You'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on conservation experience whilst learning from wildlife professionals and meeting like-minded people who care about the planet.  You could even gain qualifications in the process.

No experience needed—just energy, ideas, and a love for nature! It’s free, it’s friendly, and it’s yours to lead. For some inspiration, see how young people are taking the lead for nature in Nottingham in this video tour of Woodthorpe Meadow

Please note: Under 18s will require parental consent to attend
