Witches Oak Water Sighting by Vic Bevan

Posted: Thursday 16th November 2017 by Witchesoakwater

Rather cool and damp on the reserve this morning with frequent showers. Wildfowl numbers still relatively low, and indeed lower than a week ago, with very little of note. Only Tufted Duck and Goldeneye seem to have increased in numbers. Waterbird counts were 4 Little Grebe, 19 Great Crested Grebe, 13 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 4 Grey Heron, 23 Mute Swan, 85 Wigeon, 20 Gadwall, 15 Teal, 70 Mallard, 12 Shoveler, 10 Pochard, 190 Tufted Duck, 5 Goldeneye, 2 Water Rail, 1 Moorhen, 88 Coot, 50 Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 205 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gull and 5 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
