Learn naturally with us

We believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances
Learning outside the Classroom Manifesto

We offer a variety of wild outings for schools, from talks, to explorations to educational workshops or we can come to you and work in your school grounds. Plus, it's all linked to the curriculum!

The benefits of connecting children with nature are well known and working together with schools means we can give children a chance to see the wildlife on their doorstep, build confidence and self-esteem and discover their 'Wild Life'.

So contact us today and start your students connection with nature.

Inset training for teachers

We can give you the skills to improve children's learning, concentration, health and well-being. Unleash excitement and curiosity through learning!

There is lots of research supporting the value and positive impact of outdoor learning for children's intellectual, social and spiritual development. All schools have this free resource on their doorstep to take advantage of every day. Let us help you make the most of your outdoor environment, whether it be the school grounds or your local green space.

A one day workshop, delivered in your school grounds, with the aim to:

  • Develop your skills, ideas and confidence to use your school grounds as an effective extension of the classroom.
  • Make your school grounds easier to use as a teaching and learning resource.

Included in the day:

  • Simple, low resource, transferable activities.
  • Risk assessments made easy!
  • Using the grounds you’ve got and planning to make them better.

Please contact us to discuss any other ideas or requirements. We may be able to deliver the day as twilight sessions.

Prices start at £250 (for 15 participants) and includes complimentary Wildlife Watch membership worth £39 - benefits include regular children’s magazine and environmental magazine full of advice, ideas and resources and a free activities book.

Inset training also includes a free whole school assembly presentation on developing school grounds (available to full day bookings).

Visit your local nature reserve

There are opportunities throughout the year to get out and explore your local environment and we can help you do that! Whether using your local nature reserve as a location for outdoor learning or to do more vocational practical activities, like habitat management, environmental play and bushcraft.

All of our activities are mostly transferable to your  location and are carefully risk assessed, suitable for primary or secondary groups linking to your particular requirements. A few examples are:

  • Practical habitat management tasks that help with personal development, eg. team building, personal responsibility
  • Pond and river dipping
  • Habitat studies and nature games
  • Adventure orienteering

These locations and activities are ideally suited for extra-curricular schemes like Duke of Edinburgh and John Muir Awards.
