Fencing work at Allestree Park

Fencing work at Allestree Park

Work has begun at Allestree Park to prepare for cattle to be introduced to more of the site in Autumn.

*UPDATE: Allestree Park Q&A session – 1st March 2023

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to the Allestree Park Q&A session last night.

It was really well attended, and a wide variety of opinions were heard - what is incredibly clear is the love and passion everyone has for Allestree Park. What was also clear is there is a much broader group of residents and park users that want to be involved in the plans for rewilding and we will work to make that happen.

Proposed works for fencing have been paused and we will be setting up more opportunities for us to listen to residents and park users over the next few months.

The next event will be on the 4th April at Allestree Park, between 1-3.30pm. Meet near the Allestree Park car park on Duffield Road, Derby (DE22 2EU).

Other events will be announced soon.

A small amount of vegetation is being cleared this week and a discreet perimeter fence will be installed around the site in early March.

Between now and the Autumn, we will be talking and listening to residents and local groups to make sure that we do the right thing in the right way.

To help us do this we will be hosting events throughout the summer for the public to gather ideas and address any concerns to ensure the park is a place for all to enjoy safely and be able to use, whilst making it even better for nature.

We wanted to say a huge thank you for the support that rewilding Allestree Park has had so far – it is the UK’s largest urban rewilding project and is already having a significant influence on how other urban locations can do more for nature. We are incredibly proud it is taking place right here in Derby.
