Meet our partner organisations and community projects
As the Derwent connections project continues to grow, we recognise that we would not be able to achieve our vision without the support of the local communities in the Derwent Catchment area. This is why we are striking up new relationships with local groups and projects around the River Derwent to inspire the community to act against flooding. With the help and support of local communities we can make space for nature and water throughout the Derwent catchment alleviating the risks of flooding. The Derwent Valley is our largest Living Landscape stretching over 55 miles. The Living Landscape has outstanding ancient woodlands and parklands with more than 1,200 veteran trees!

Between June 2022 and March 2023 the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust have funding available to support landowners with natural flood management measures and woodland creation projects throughout the Derwent Catchment.
Working together with you on your land we can help to reduce the risk of flooding throughout the Derwent Catchment.

Exposed to a chemical cocktail of pollutants and stripped of its natural resilience, the Derwent is in crisis. Pollution, littering, over-abstraction, the spread of invasive species, increasing rainfall seasonality, and over-modification of natural watercourses—human-induced pressures—are driving the ecological destruction of our Derwent.
