Saturday 28th September: BIRDS: chiffchaff 1, great spotted woodpecker 1, skylarks 3, mute swan 1, jay 1, snipe 2, teal 3, barnacle goose 1, jackdaws 2. Sunday 29th September: buzzard 1, grey wagtail 2, linnets 2, mute swan 1, willow tit 1, jay 2; BUTTERFLIES: small tortoiseshell 1, speckled wood 6, comma 1; DRAGONFLIES: common darter 8; OTHER INSECTS: could anyone ID the insect in the photo? It was taken while we were clearing a ditch.
