Take part in The Big Backyard Nature Spot!

Did you know that private gardens cover more space in the UK that nature reserves? It is estimated that they cover around 10 million acres of the UK, and they are vital to our wildlife and nature's recovery.  They connect our nature reserves and wild spaces together, giving our wildlife a safe path to move around freely.

Take part in our Big Backyard Nature Spot and tell us what you've seen in your garden or outdoor space.  From bees to hedgehogs and blackbirds to sparrow hawks, we want to know!  You'll be helping the nature on your doorstep just by telling us what you've seen.  Don't know the species?  That doesn't matter!  Just send us a photo and our team will identify it for you, or simply download the brilliant inaturalist app.

Get Spotting and Fundraise too

Ask your friends and family to sponsor you and get out in your backyard, garden or whatever space you have, to see what you can spot!  Whether you raise £5 or £50, every penny raised will help put nature back into recovery.

Do you have a family member, school group, an after school club who wants to become a super spotter and a top class nature detective as well?
