Open Mosaic Habitats

Why are they so important?

Open mosaic habitats are really important. A recent study by Kieron Huston, our White Peak Regional Manager found that these important pockets are host to 80 species listed as UK Biodiversity Action Plan priority species and 42 plant species that are rare or in decline.

But it isn't just wildlife the sites are important for. Kieron also delved into the importance for local people and found these habitats really are well loved places that provided much needed respite from the stresses of modern life.
