Witches Oak Water by Vic Bevan

Another cold overcast morning with temperatures just above freezing and almost no wind. Relatively quiet on the reserve with 3 Smew (2 males and a redhead) being the pick of the sightings. Waterbird count 2 Little Grebe, 27 Great Crested Grebe, 28 Cormorant, 5 Grey Heron, 3 Mute Swan, 123 Wigeon, 75 Gadwall, 80 Teal, 36 Mallard, 10 Shoveler, 10 Pochard, 192 Tufted Duck, 23 Goldeneye, 3 Smew, 2 Goosander, 2 Water Rail, 3 Moorhen, 92 Coot, 40 Lapwing, 100 Black-headed Gull and 4 Common Gull.
