The Whistlestop Discovery Centre

The old station building in Matlock Bath is a beautiful and iconic Grade II listed building set in the heart of a popular tourist area. It was reopened as a visitor centre in summer 2017, with a pop up shop and café, work will be continuing throughout the winter, including efforts to bring our wildlife garden back to life. We have had an inspiring first summer, built up a great team of volunteers and spoken to thousands of visitors about the area and our work.

All that talking to our many visitors has helped inspire and inform our future plans for the building. There is still plenty to do and exciting opportunities to grasp. Over the winter we will be undertaking some improvement works to install a café, enhance our retail offer and develop the opportunities for engaging in wildlife, wild places and supporting the work of the Trust.

We want it to be a community hub and gateway to the Peak District, and we will need your help to make this happen. If you are interested in getting involved please get in touch at
