Celebrate Great Trees at Hardwick

Thursday 3rd November 2011

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has joined forces with the National Trust for a day of fun family activities to celebrate ancient trees.

The event takes place on Saturday 26th November at Hardwick Park Centre on the National Trust’s Hardwick Hall estate at Doe Lea near Chesterfield. Find out more about trees in autumn and winter with our tree-related games, take part in a mini-beast hunt and have a go at crafts using autumn leaves.

There are two sessions to choose from: 10.30am-12pm and 1-2.30pm. There is no charge, but booking is required as numbers are limited.

The event is being organised as part of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s Heritage Lottery Funded Saving the Great Trees of Derbyshire project which aims to raise awareness of the importance of veteran trees. Our ancient trees provide important habitats for a variety of wildlife including birds, insects and bats. Additional funding is provided by the Trust’s Getting Closer to Nature Project, supported by the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All.
