Woodside sighting, by Jim Steele

Posted: Saturday 22nd April 2017 by woodsidenr

Plenty of willow warbler, chiffchaff and blackcap singing and two great views of green woodpecker and a nuthatch. Bullfinch singing too which is not so commonly heard, whilst just off the reserve at Shipley View Lagoons my first reed warbler of the year singing. Kestrel and buzzard overhead. Butterflies included peacock, small tortoiseshell, brimstone, speckled wood, large white, small white, orange tip and my first holly blues of the season. Cold but beautifully sunny Spring morning.
