Witches Oak Water Sighting by Vic Bevan

A lovely morning on the reserve; sunny and relatively warm with very little wind. Wildfowl numbers continue to grow, though slowly, with most notably the arrival of 16 Pochard (mostly males) and Goldeneye Increasing to 4 (2 males and 2 females). 2 Red Admirals and a Small Tortoiseshell also present. Waterbird count was 3 Little Grebe, 27 Great Crested Grebe, 16 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 5 Grey Heron, 24 Mute Swan, 6 Canada Goose, 100 Wigeon, 70 Gadwall, 45 Teal, 83 Mallard, 13 Shoveler, 16 Pochard, 168 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 3 Goosander, 2 Water Rail, 6 Moorhen, 95 Coot, 87 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 230 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gull and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
