Thomas' sightings from a warm and sunny day at Drakelow in the south of Derbyshire.
A much brighter afternoon followed a very cool and overcast morning with the temperature struggling to reach 15C by mid-afternoon.
The highlight, without doubt, was the finding of a Hairy Dragonfly.
With the barometer set ‘Fair’ and a temperature predicted at 16C the day was given over to a search for butterflies and dragonflies.

The latest sightings at the Drakelow reserve.
Siskins recorded and on the same date there was a report of a 40 Linnets
The Hooded Merganser is being reported intermittently
Recent reports are of badger (twice in broad daylight), field mouse and several rabbit kits are now above ground.
The National Wildfowl Count, carried out on the 17th, produced an excellent count of 95 Shovelers and 52 Tufted Ducks
Great white and little egrets
