The Baker Family’s 30 Days Wild: Day Sixteen

A zoo adventure of sorts

Today my not-so-small smaller son and I went to the softplay centre at our local zoo, and enjoyed a morning of running around, throwing balls at each other, and spending rather too much time going up and down slides.

While some people may have considered our jollities wild enough, we knew we had to head outside to interact with the natural world. Enter The Wetlands, a small nature reserve hidden behind the zoo’s car park. Here, small son and I enjoyed a few moments of peace and quiet, ambling between plants and smelling flowers – as well as identifying each moment a plane would fly overhead. Upon our return home we discovered that some of our caterpillars are getting ready to form their chrysalises.

We shall be keeping a close eye on them in the days to come!
