Exploring High Tor Woods

Half day. Available at the Whistlestop Centre.

Sensory activities and nature games on High Tor, a woodland close to the Centre. This involves a steep walk but with plenty of stops.

What's in our pond?

Half day. Available at the Whistlestop Centre and the Wildlife Discovery Room

Catch some creatures in our wildlife pond and find out a bit more about them.
Includes: identifying insects, adaptations and life cycles.

Owl Babies

(Half or full day) available at WCC or Carsington.

Following a trail of feathers to find all the baby owls and their mother. Along the way children use their senses to discover more about the habitats and food chains. On the full day children will also take part in a mini beast hunt.

Plants and Animals

Full day. Available at the Whistlestop Centre and the Wildlife Discovery Room

An activity packed day to find out more about plants and animals. Find out how plants grow, what plant parts are used for, why they are important to animals and how animals bodies are so very different to each other.

Nature's Artists

Half day. Available at the Whistlestop Centre and the Wildlife Discovery Room

A walk around Stones island or High Tor woods to discover more about wildlife and habitats through a number of games and natural art activities.
Includes: habitats, adaptations, Andy Goldsworthy and Natural Art.

Grow Up With Plants

Full or half day. Available at the Whistlestop Centre, the Wildlife Discovery Room and Rose End Meadows Nature Reserve

An activity packed day to find out more about plants, how they grow, what plant parts are used for and why they are important to animals.
Includes: plant part game, plant lifecycles, habitats, food chains and pollination game.
