Witches Oak Water Sighting by Ian Hamilton

Tuesday 12th December - Clear and bright. Temperature rose to a dizzy 2 degrees. Lots of thin ice on the shallower lakes. Counts were as follows: Tufted - 145, Wigeon - 80, Goldeneye - 13, Teal - 72, Mallard - 69, Gadwall - 73, Teal - 72, Shoveler - 13, Shelduck - 1, Gooosander - 2. Great Crested Grebe - 9, Little Grebe - 2, Coot - 69, Moorhen - 3 (only), Canada Geese -2 (only on site), Mute Swan - 23, Grey Heron - 13, Cormorant - 18, Snipe - 2, Black Headed Gull - 230, Common Gull - 3, Greater Black Back - 2. Other birds included Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tits (at least 4 parties), Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Blackbirds in profusion, Fieldfare and Redwing in small numbers, Robin, Wren, Cetti's (2 calling), Pied Wagtail, Green Woodpecker (3 individuals), Kestrel and Buzzard. Brown Hare along one of the rides.
