Witches Oak Water Sightings by Vic Bevan

Posted: Friday 13th October 2017 by Witchesoakwater

13th October - Great White Egret seen today at 09.15 near the outflow on Lake 12 of Phase 2. Flew off towards Lake 10 reed bed. Relocated at 10.30 on Lake 6, but again flew off this time towards the River Trent where it was again refound at 11.15 just downstream of the meander. Distinctive large size, long neck and heavy, dagger-like yellow bill - seen with both Grey Heron and Little Egret so easy to compare. Only second ever sighting for the reserve.
