Erewash Meadows Sightings by Dave Sneap

Posted: Sunday 19th November 2017 by Erewash

Records from early November start with Cetti's Warbler, with the bird found on the 1st still present & seen on both 5th& 6th. There was no sign after this until presumably the same bird might have been heard very briefly on 12th in the same place. Jump forward another week and a Cetti's was found by SB about 2 miles north at the canal by the Nth Field. It was still present today. Is it the same, or is it another,? we will probably never know. Other sightings included Little Grebe still, could be 2. Woodcock was the first of the Autumn, with 2 being seen on 18th. Pied Wagtail numbers are back to the usual odd single figures after the unusual recent high counts. Winter thrushes are still few with only two days this month providing double figure numbers. A flock of 13 Meadow Pipits spent the 13th following the cows & sheep around and Mistle Thrushes, Greenfinches & Goldcrests have become noticeable.
