The Baker Family’s 30 Days Wild: Day Twenty

Walking the wild way home

Today, as we do every Monday, Alex and I accompanied Toby to his pre-school swimming lesson. However, unlike most Mondays when we have the car at our disposal, today we walked.

when you have your imagination the world is as wild as you want it to be

It drizzled a little and we got damp around the edges, but the funny thing is we didn’t care at all; there was far too much to look at as we went. You see, rather than running from the rain, or motoring on home without a second glance, today we took our time; we noticed the snails exploring the garden wall of an empty old house, the mushroom growing on an otherwise perfectly manicured lawn, and the puddles that formed in the cracks of the pavement.

We made it as far as a small park next to a main road and took it in turns to leap over a roaring river (the path), and then asked a tiger nicely if we could pass by – when you have your imagination the world is as wild as you want it to be.
