The Baker Family’s 30 Days Wild: Day Eighteen

My quiet time

After a busy day spent doing housework and ripping up damp carpet (don’t ask), I suddenly realised that I had yet to do anything wild – of any merit, at least; I’m not sure cloud spotting, or finding snails, can be counted after you’ve done it every single day…

I made a special effort to notice everything

Not to worry, though, as I remembered the dog had yet to go for his walk. Treats and poo-bags in pocket we set out across a field not far from our house. It’s a field we visit regularly, but this evening I made a special effort to notice everything – the way the earth smelled after the recent rain, the many different types of grass growing, and the way the breeze rustled the leaves of nearby trees.

Spending time alone in that field, with only the dog nearby, was bliss.
