The Baker Family’s 30 Days Wild: Day Two

Feeding the birds: No less of an adventure

Today’s random act of wild was, perhaps, a notch or two down from exploring such a vast array of habitats as we did on Day One, but it was no less of adventure – indeed, have you ever attempted to fill bird feeders with loose grain with a toddler in tow?

We have always enjoyed watching the birds as they come to feed on the tables in our neighbours’ gardens, and finally decided it was about time we did something about it, gaining our very own table just a few short months ago.

In that time we’ve welcome starlings, sparrows, blackbirds, turtle doves, and crows into our fold, as well as watching families of gold finches and great tits as they dash back and forth from feeder to the plum tree and back again; yesterday’s treats, including fat balls, mixed grain, meal worms and peanuts, will no doubt pull in the crowds too, as we take up position in younger son’s bedroom window in order to watch their feast.
